FALL WINE CLUB NOTES

Circle B Vineyards ~ 2015 Zinfandel

Sight, Smell and Taste so clearly denote a Paso Zinfandel in this wine.  Deep nearly opaque visuals offer excellent suggestions of what this wine will be on the tongue.  Aromas of Raspberry, Chocolate and ….. Juicy Fruit Gum (not necessarily typical in Paso) tease the olfactory nerves.   Thick and Rich Raspberry almost Jammy in nature on the front of the tongue, and a heaping helping of Raspberry, Cherry and Cranberry’s on the mid-palate would feel too heavy if weren’t for the acidity which keeps this Zin running to the finish.  A medium finish with some herbaceousness to go along with the fruit makes this wine a little more interesting and fun.

Enjoy now through 2020.  Suggested pairings Drink with friends and with most Italian marinara or Chicken dishes.

Destination West ~ 2013 Pinot Noir

On the nose, musty forest floor aromas are the initial impression with a slight indication of a succulent dark berry teasing from underneath the leaves.  Both tart and generous, the Black Cherry tones are evident from the front to the mid-palate. Silky soft tannins give way to a stabilizing acidic yet fruity finish. This is a very approachable, easy to drink Pinot Noir, coming from a very dry growing season.

Drink Now or through 2020,  Pair with a rich Salmon dish, or even lightly seasoned Lamb kabobs.

Epoch ~ 2014 Estate Red Blend

Mouth-coating Syrah, earth-grounding Mourvèdre, fruit-driven Grenache and textural Tempranillo…this is your daily Epoch. 2014 Estate Blend shows full range of flavor – red plum, berry and surprising watermelon fruit flavors play the soprano notes while earthy, grounding elements of black olive, earth, sweet leather, brown spice and meat harmonize as baritones. 2018 - 2027

Epoch ~ 2017 Estate White

Your olfactory receptors will be in overdrive with our ’17 White’s stunning aromatics of fresh pineapple, green melon, honeysuckle and lemon curd, which are echoed and enhanced on the luxurious, yet crisp and mineral-driven palate.  2018 - 2022

Herman Story ~ 2016 MILK & HONEY

I had to keep the winemakers notes on this one… It is clear that he has a knack for this… and I thought it was fun. CB

Varietals: 32% Tempranillo, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Petit Verdot, 19% Syrah
If a cigar smoking saber tooth tiger crashed it’s Peterbilt into a chocolate factory while making a Valentine’s delivery of fresh cut flowers, this is what the eyewitness news crews would be reporting: exploded bank vault, smoked paprika, blueberry pomegranate donut, fresh Nat Sherman MCD Blacks, rain, chocolate hand grenade, rose flower water, elderberry syrup, dried violets, cinnamon toast, cherries & berries. With the lingering thought that you may not know where your children are.

DRINK NOW: 2 hour decant,
CELLAR: Now through 2025

Locatelli ~ 14 Petit Verdot

On the nose a dusty fruit bin and elegant floral quality.  This Petit Verdot is a surprisingly soft version of the varietal with notes of dark chocolate and luscious red fruit on the mid-palate.  Not highly acidic this Petit Verdot carries a gentle tannic finish.  Drink now through 2024.

Villa San Juliette ~ 2014 Chorum Red

A blend of 32% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 14% Petit Verdot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 12% Alicante Bouschet, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Sirah   -----------

The 2014 Chorum Red is lush with vibrant aromatics and flavors that combine in a sumptuous medley. Plum, blackberry, and cedar aromas mingle with jam and espresso notes. Rich on the palate, this wine bursts with flavors of boysenberry, black cherry, and sarsaparilla. A blend of American and French oak barrel ageing helped soften the tannins, which are long, silky, and anchored by lively acidity.

Drink Now through 2022

Villa San Juliette ~ 2016 Sauvignon Blanc

Ageing in stainless steel preserved the tangy acidity of this lovely wine, while lees contact added creaminess and longevity to the mouthfeel. The aromatics of this wine are bright and enticing: lemongrass, lime zest, orange blossom, and tuberose rise out of the glass in rich, fruity waves. Abundant flavors of lemon curd, honey dew melon, and green papaya finish with an invigorating wet stone and juniper finish.

Drink now through 2019    Drink chilled for a refreshing treat, or enjoy at cellar temperatures for a rich accompaniment to spicy seafood or creamy cheeses.
