SPRING 2018 WINE CLUB NOTES





Alta Colina ~ 2013 GSM Blend

The 2013 GSM is a Grenache-dominated blend that includes 20% Mourvedre and 12% Syrah. This forward, sweetly fruited beauty offers lots of both black and blue fruits, smoked herbs, licorice and a kiss of pepper to go with medium to full bodied richness, ripe tannin and an already hard to resist personality. Varietal: 68% Grenache, 20% Mouvedre, 12% Syrah. This wine is tight when first opened and requires decanting or aerating if drinking immediately. It is an age worthy wine, and will be good to lay down for 5 – 7 years. Best (now with decanting) or hold for a couple years and Drink approaching 2025.

Ecluse ~ 2013 Petite Sirah

Broad blueberry, black cherry and vanilla aromas show in this bottling from Steve and Pam Lock’s eponymous westside Paso Robles vineyard. The mouthfeel is quite full, showing root beer float flavors, ample acidity and present but well-chiseled tannins.

Rotta ~ 2015 Cabernet Franc

This young wine exhibits bright berry fruit and peppercorn laced with violets and hints of cream. Big berry fruit is immediate with reminders of green peppercorn that turn to dark chocolate with layers of cherry, raspberry with toasty oak woven throughout. Much of the youthful exuberance will soften with time and the layers will deepen and lengthen beautifully.  Lush and intense now its potential to improve is boundless.

 Slacker ~ 2014 Computer Geek Red Blend


From the wine maker - Computer Geek emphasizes Mourvedre’s herby, gamey, meaty character, giving a drier inflection to the black cherry fruit, spice and mineral notes and ending up as a powerful, persuasively characterful wine. This unusual blend exudes roasted lamb, roasted peppers, resting juices, crispy fat, wood shavings, cassis and black cherries on the nose. The palate is so fresh and rounded, lush but with a real elegance about it. Mineral notes of quinine highlight the long finish framing a core of root beer, Morello cherries and gingerbread. Drink Now Through 2023

Slacker ~ 2016 Self Esteem White Rhone Blend

Generous fruit and a core of excellently balanced acid bring this white Rhone blend to life. A pleasure of light peach flower accents on the nose tickles the brain. Then, Happily on the tongue the brain’s interpretations are confirmed with the fruity, friendly pear, peaches and lightly honeyed palate. For a white wine this does not disappoint on the finish. Drink now and really enjoy.

Union Sacre ~ 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon “Le Confident”

Fermented with native yeasts, this beautiful, richly-textured wine is incredibly aromatic, yielding vibrant notes of cassis and black cherry, backed by exotic spice box aromas and silky, velvety tannins. Silky and elegant on the tongue the spicy elements will help pair with all kinds of interesting meals… Drink now with decanting, or Hold through 2025.

Union Sacre ~ 2016 Riesling “Fraulein”

Off dry, hints of pear and melon. Light body with faint petrol notes are elusive enough as to be enticing. It is simply a fun interesting light Summer Type wine. Enjoyable just about any time, you won’t go wrong with spicier fair. Drink Soon

Via Vega ~ 2012 Malbec

This vintage captured the real prettiness of Malbec fruit. This wine has pizzazz. Malbec is the Saturday date night wine because it is so festive. Please take 30 minutes to allow to breathe. So taste it first, then again in 30 min or so, and enjoy the incredible differences. Aromas of big blackberry, and red hard candy. As this warms to palate temperature it shows vibrant layered richness of clean red fruit with comfortable level of acidity. The tannins are soft and the rich fruit falls to a lovely balance with spice notes on the finish.

  1. This wine looks little bit different from others as this wine is made of fruits like grapes, apple which is good for health as this wine is good for those who are suffering from cough and colds as this is beneficial for those who are suffering from diseases like cough and viral.
